Prizes based on number of pages read each quarter 500, 750 & 1500. Pick up submission forms in Media Center and submit by 5/16/13 for 4th quarter. Next Pizza Party for 1500 page readers, May 23, in the Media Center during student lunches. Reading Counts     If you want to improve your reading comprehension, sign up for this program with the Media Specialist. There are small prizes monthly and cash prizes each quarter for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Ice Cream Party with door prizes during lunches on May 24, 2013, for Million Word Readers!   District Virtual Library for High School Students Passwords are needed for this site and can be obtained in the media center or from your media specialist. Florida Teens Read These newly published books are selected by highschool students in Florida and voted on by all students in April. This Year's Winner:  Read and Vote! 2011-2012 Winner:  The Maze Runner by James Dasher 2010-2011 Winner:  Graceling by Kristin Cashore 2009-2010 Winner:  Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins   Poetry Jam     Durant's Spoken Word Poetry workshop and competition was held in the Media Center on November 29. The 1st place winner was Jon Miles; 2nd place, Jose Perez; and 3rd place, Alex Wood.     Students who are interested in attending the Jam next year should talk to Ms. Estes-Swilley in room 354 or to Ms. McVean in the Media Center.
